Balsham (Buildings) Ltd was conceived
from a company originally formed in 1935. The organisation
originated from a blacksmith's shop in the centre of the village
of Balsham near Cambridge and specialised in light engineering
and machinery dealership.
In the early 1960's, a chance
remark by a local farmer that he could not obtain a building
to meet his required delivery date, led to the company undertaking
it's first building fabrication contract.
In 1978 the company became
part of the multi-national Czarnikow Group when they were
purchased by FA Standen & Sons Ltd. This transaction saw
an immediate rationalisation of the company that resulted
in steel framed building manufacture becoming the mainstay
of the business.
In 1986 Czarnikow divested
itself of F.A. Standen & Sons, who were bought by the Thurlow
Nunn Group. Today the Group turnover sits at around £100m
pa and the Group is one of the largest family owned concerns
in Eastern England. Collectively the Group employs over 500
staff. For more information on our Group, please

With the support and direction
of the Group's owners, Balsham Buildings have developed and
grown as a business. Since 2002, the company's turnover has
doubled and 2007 should see completed projects with a value
of around £10m. This growth has been delivered through diversification
and development of newer product lines, particularly industrial
cladding systems. However, we are delighted to maintain our
links with our roots and we are proud of our wide ranging
portfolio. We do not believe that many of our competitiors
can provide a traditional farm building on one project and
a high specification standing seam aluminium roof on the
other!
